On the video I thought about doing last year.
I'm not doing it For several good reasons.
First and foremost I've decided To keep my secrets, secret.
So the sarcastic innuendo by people like Dan B. Can stop, unless we like being childish.
I doubt it would be said to my face.
Why can't people respect someones decision to change their mind? This isn't middle school.
A lot of people have stopped posting here because of the know it all Bulls*** that seems to happen on here more and more.
Why should I feel obligated to make the video anyways?
For the most part there are good people on here, but in reality we are all in competition for business, right? There is just enough dillweeds with condescending comments on here to make my decision to not market the dvd's all the more right for me.
I like this site and have been a member since its inception, I have helped people and contributed. But potshots should stop or I'll have to call the parents of the problem children.
My name gets brought up about replicas and DanB has to take a shot? Being a good artist doesn't exempt you from being a dum-bass.

I too was looking forward to the video, the more education a person can get from different people the better a guy can get.
    Maybe in the future
Sad thing is there will always be negative people out there pay no attention to them.
    take care

Thanks guys. Its not the negativity that bugs me because as a society I think most are a bit negative or envious, not sure which?
I cannot stand the pussies that sit at a keyboard and stir crap.
After 57 years of life and 39 doing whatever its called that I do, I have made mistakes, I've helped people and everything in between.
I just don't put up with much BS anymore.
I've worked hard to get to whatever level I'm at. Experiments, sacrifice, $$$$$ and time you can't get back.
So why hand it over for a few bucks? I had some input from respected individuals on here and elsewhere and decided to keep my cards close to my chest.
To have sarcastic remarks by DanB on the thread Old dead river started just because I was mentioned is ridiculous! I have 3 different types of Large mouth bass molds for my clients, that blanks will never be sold from. Why? Because I make them for my clients, not other peoples clients.....Just like Ron Kelly who I respect.
Everyone else can use the same old weirdly posed fish (that weigh more than the real fish did!)with un- natural man made fins. I'm funny like that, I would rather offer my customers something they cannot get anywhere else, that why I make and use my own molds, and seldom anyone else s.
I really do offer "custom" fish replicas. I'm not a fish painter I'm a fish molding, casting painting guy.

    WHAT!! LOL

Why the verbal abuse? You mentioned my name 3-4 times. I never said anybodys name. The quote "skin is in" was directed to another thread on here where people were saying "skin is in". So I do skin mounts and replicas both. So the quote "glass is in" was directed to the the bass blank thread. In order to have many models of bass (sizes)you need to harvest some bass to make them glass. lol, thats all that was. LOVE YOU

ODR, Good luck on the new Bass line. There are thousands if not millions of people waiting for the new molding and casting DVD's wayyy back. ::)
    No sarcasm or innuendo here?

Good luck means...Good luck. Good luck on finding the right model for him that matches his bass. ??? Whats wrong with that?
Yes, I too among others look forward to new ideas, techniques, dvd's, tapes, books, etc. to purchase or read on the ideas of others. So when an individual states he is coming out with a set of dvd's from start to finish on a fish and it doesn't happen or its delayed, the person wanting to purchase it gets disappointed or is wondering what takes so long. That's all that was about. Starting to believe you never intended on doing it all along. So now you say there are no dvd's coming out. I and others are disappointed on them being cancelled.
If thousands of people intended on buying them, that would benefit YOU. Anyway, just continue the verbal abuse towards me. No way am I bashing or taking potshots at you.

Ok, I started to build some understanding of your comment until "Starting to believe you never intended on doing it all along".
I did intend to do it or I would not shot 2 hours of video of at least 12 hours? And BTW There are not "thousands of people that wanted to buy it! I thought If I could sell 100 it would be a miracle, our industry is too small. AND it would have benefited others much more than myself. Changed my mind.............Sorry your disappointed, never meant to disappoint anyone.
Now go figure it out like I had to for over 30 years. I retract my statement of taking potshots, and call it a day.
I'm singing kumbaya (sp) as I type. And yes I was being facetious.

I think you are selling yourself short Bryan. There were 8173 views on your "any interest in A fish molding and casting DVD" thread and nearly 6 pages of responses for pre-sale committals. I bet you'd have sold a bundle so long as you beat some of the other knowledgable talents (who might in the future be sponsored to make such a DVD showcasing certain products) to the punch. And who knows, with what you say it would have been; Rick Carter's DVD on whitetail deer still sells like no other since (too bad for him it wasn't independently created).

Certainly your blanks look really nice, I'd have been interested in what was on the vid; but talk of a high price tag put me off. Don't get me wrong, Catching Air still sells at over a Benjamin, for used copies; but, when Josh K has a detailed molding video you can view for free on YouTube and Gary B has a series of articles on the subject you can economically purchase from Breakthrough magazine, for me I couldn't justify any big money. I thought that might be a challenge to your sales, but that is moot now.

I don't have a problem with anyone keeping his/her secrets to him/ her self, but I can see where folks are disappointed the vid got cancelled as it seemed like the ball was rolling and there was some traction with regard to the production (indeed, as you said, filming had begun). You've been around since before your current profile was created; as you said, from the beginning. Then you probably remember what happened with the Black Forest Eyes thing. I think there was invested money involved and it got ugly with those parties, but there was consternation from many who were not directly connected as well. (I'm impressed that some of those involved were able to move forward and see their concept through). Anyway, right or wrong, people get jaded when something they are told to expect falls through; and oftentimes, the higher the hope, the greater the reaction. I'm glad you clarified you won't ever be selling the new line of your LMB blanks commercially like I had anticipated when you brought it up, knowing that you have delt sales adhoc on the forum with other blanks. That'll alleviate any misconstrued expectations. Would have been nice to have them on the market, though I don't agree we ( everyone else) are completely limited to what you said.

Anyway, enjoy your retirement some and keep posting when you can onTMIFP, where all the dumb a** artists, myself included, can post and view some of the best work each year without personalities coming to forefront. All the BS, that is what PMs are for (I usually ignore mine ;D).

    Best, Scott

    Hey Bryan,
Just my 2 cents here and to be clear, I was always very positive about the proposed video. When you publicly state you are making a video and then, I believe, a couple times anyway, state to hang in there after some period of time, genuinely interested people believe you AND give you the benefit of doubt, which is what I did.
When you make the call to pull the plug for whatever reasons, you should accept the responsibility and appologize to the individuals that were sincere about buying it, not publicly name a person(s) (falsely accuse?) you blame, at least in part, for not following through. To further that, you added that you DIDNT want to share any secrets with anyone you worked so hard to achieve (no-one helped you out over the years?) and would NOT sell your coveted blanks to the lowly taxidermist, only to your customers. Really?
You don't take BS, well I dont either, so I guess keep your "secrets" and your blanks then...... The blanks I bought from you years ago were nice and the transaction excellent (as I posted) so what happened man, for you to be so angry.........maybe you had a bad day. I'd like to see the old Bryan back. I know he's still around somewhere........and by the way, I know you'd have done well with the video as Scott stated.....Peace

    Brian,
Sorry you feel that way. Sorry your disappointed.
I've never been interested in being a blank maker.... A few to fill in holes, sure. My blanks are not coveted, but I like them as well as my clients.
. I sell a few to a few individuals, thats it. There are plenty of guys out there that Do not sell their blanks.
I'm not angry and NO no one helped me at all ever. Got a diploma from the school of hard knocks.
I figured stuff out on my own, before the internet, WAY Before!
After shooting footage I realized the payback would probably be way short or the work and cost to produce. Plus the pirates and copying the DVD's.
Plus I in no way feel obligated to share anything, it was a thought. Feel free to re watch the free Josh Knuth video on how to mold a crappie, it should be enough, right?
I've heard Rick Krane will make the video anyways.
If you don't make a living doing this, then you probably don't realize how much the industry is diluted with all the videos and such.
The "old" Bryan is right where he wants to be. I'm not angry, but a bit tired of people who get pissed when they don't get what they want.
I'm not trying to be an ass, but How my competition likes me is unimportant.
I've been on this site since it started. It has gone WAY down hill. Too many critics (experts).
I have answered endless emails, phone calls an messages with people asking for advice, I've always tried my best to give good honest advice, probably won't happen anymore though.
Brian If you would have called me and asked how to do something, I would have told you.
I'm not a know it all, but I know enough.
Lets see if anyone I've helped in the last 10-12 years chimes in.

I would never ever put out a video. Why?Because a lot of people these days think nothing of copying them or even posting them on the Internet and screw the guy that worked hard and went to the expense of producing it. A lot of people will do anything they can not to pay the full price.

I honestly don't know how recording studios make it anymore.

Even books are not off limits to pirating. My twin just published a book that got rave reviews and he sold 900 copies in a few months just locally and off his website. Forget Amazon as they want 40 percent of the list price! He told me he got suspicious orders from far off countries and he believes it's entirely possible his book could be reproduced cheaply by a Chinese printer and sold at a lower price. At a list price of just under $40.00 there's money to be made if someone can print it cheaply. He's already found some folks that have no qualms using photos from his book that he originally paid for.

Some of the younger genetation with the advent of the Internet have no issues with plagiarism.

  15. Would of been really cool to see, since i know little about the proper way to mold a fish. But totally understand. seems like a lot of extra work.

I myself am making a "non educational" video of a largemouth from molding, painting to finish, and will post on you tube. Will have various psychedelic clips, and brain washing materials, edited carefully in, so the viewer barely notices it.

Here's a clip from the end.
