Can someone tell me where I can buy(what kind of store) layup resin for bonded ear technique?
I buy the bondo, fiberglass resin, fibers and red hardener all from Lowe's.
Yes Dave...I believe layup resin is used to thin it out a little though....I could be wrong.
I get it at an auto parts store
The resin thins it and bonds with the fibers...also provides for better adhesion to the ear.
When I refer to resin, I'm referring to fiberglass resin...not sure if that is same "lay up" resin you are referring to. I've never used anything labeled as "lay up" resin in particular.
You can use standard fiberglass resin to thin any kind of bondo. They both harden with the same activator.
If you have to have lay up resin, search for US Composites. They carry whatever you need.
When I used just Bondo for the ears, they almost always drummed. When I stared using fiberglass resin mixed with the Bondo I never had a drumming issue again.
