Does anyone know where I can purchase reference pictures? I would like to purchase pictures that I can use for paintings/drawings that are not under copyright laws. I know that there must be a lot of amerature photographers out there that would'nt mind making some $ from their hobby. Is there any web sites or companies that deal in this? I am totally clueless. Thanks for any ideas.

What type of animals are you planning on drawing? African? North American?

Silverwolf5792 Sierra, my quarter horse :)

You can do a search on here for something to draw. You could probably ask any of the photographers to use their pictures.

You can purchase photos on the following sites, I believe that have different rules for what you might want to do with them:

I would be looking for pretty much any type of animal along with reptiles, birds, or whatever else nature has to throw my way. I thought that there might be a web sight where you punch in what you're looking for and it gives you the options that they have in that catagory. Sort of like ebay, but just for photographs for sale. I will try ebay for grins. I will also try the websights that have been offered. Thanks a lot.

Studio106 (that's a lot to type out, can't we just call you Stud for short?), I have a number of reference photos here on this site that you are more than welcome to use for flat work renderings. I see the translation from photo to another medium by a flat work artist as being no different than a taxidermist using them to help make a dollar.

WASCO also carries a number of my photos for cheap. The bison, wild turkey, and pheasant photos were done by different photographers, but anything else in this line, hey, if you can make a million, go for it.

Here's another address for reference material I have provided. Enjoy.
