Whitetail replacement nose on Mule Deer

Discussion in 'Deer and Gameheads' started by Rackmastr, Jul 21, 2015.

  1. Quick question....anyone using a WT replacement (OTS, etc) nose on mule deer forms? I have hand carved all the mule deer I've mounted but like the ease of a WT replacement nose for most of my WT work. I've looked at some reference and there seems to be some differences, but also differences among different WT and MD reference among species.

Been watching Manny Chavez DVD on mule deer as I have a few coming up here and just thought I'd bring it up for comments about differences in nose structure between the two.

    Thanks

  2. This is the other option I'm considering if I don't just carve out a nose instead. Just figured I'd explore all options to get as good looking work as possible.

I use the whitetail noses, and clay over to get shape I want.

Why not just use a Roy Cogburn replacement mule deer nose.?

  7. Is that the one that Trufitt sells?

Yes Trufitt has them. Get a couple and see which work best it's usually best to get the small and medium as the large seams to be a bit big.
