Ken Pruett of Cherryville, North Carolina, died July 4, 2015. Ken was the owner of Mirage Image Studio of Taxidermy and a longtime member of the North Carolina Taxidermists Association. He also was a country and western musician and singer and recently played with the Broken Axle Band.

Anyone who attended the Piedmont Technical College Mini-Course in the 80's, 90's and 2000's (and later the Surry Show) will remember Ken. Every evening it seemed that he was in the parking lot playing his guitar and singing to an enthusiastic audience of taxidermists.

  2. Dang! This was a wonderful man and a really good music maker. I posted a few months ago if anyone could tell me how to find Ken and no one seemed to know of him. Even had someone from the NC Assoc. to write and tell me he wasn't on their roll and no one knew anything about him. Miss Lola really wanted to reconnect with him.

Miss Lola Haynes and Miss Pearl Henderson were always at "The party after the party" where he would sing. He even wrote a song for Pearl and Mom and put out a 45rpm record of it. We still have our copy and I play it frequently for Mom. If any of the family reads this, please know we greatly admired Ken and still have his picture on our wall.
