Got this for about $9. Four and half inches long. I'd like to make it look better.

What do you suggest- scrubbing it a little, then soaking it in acetone? Peroxide?

Not too bad as it is. Try soaking for a few weeks in straight ammonia. rinse well, dry and hit it with peroxide. If you try acetone get a good container for it and let it sit in acetone for several months before checking it.

Thank you- I have it in ammonia now.

If I use 3% peroxide, how long would you recommend it immerse it in peroxide?

3% is very weak and will work in time. Cover it with peroxide (submerge it) and let it sit for several days. You might see some difference in 24 hours but let it sit longer. It won't damage it at all if you do.
