    Maybe I'm wrong but first one looks like "water rail" (Rallus aquaticus)
    Second one I don't know :eek:

    I think your right on the first LTB.

    I think the second is a long billed curlew.

    I know its a rail but not sure of the species,its from n.america so its not a water rail,its on 2" thick Styrofoam for a size reference

    On the second also look at a Whimbrel. Both are very close to what you have.

    for me they look like a clapper rail and a curlew

    rai either a clapper or king rail but cant tell which it is

    The one looks like a clapper rail or king rail, but there is something very odd about the second one. It looks like a duck's body with a pair of long legs and bill added.

    can anyone tell the difference between a king and clapper rail?

    Do you know where it was taken? Kings and clappers were recently divided into 5 different species.

    Me thinks it's a Virginia Rail. Clapper Rail is larger, usually paler, with olive-brown shoulders.

    On #2 Bristle-Thighed Curlew? I agree, that body looks like a duck, juvenile Hen G.W. Teal?

    rail was from east coast n.carolina....not a Virginia rail...I have one of those mounted and this thing is 3 times as big....

    why would a bird mount get 2-5 yrs? not trying to sell it
     
  19. Given its brownish coloration I'd say King Rail - all the clapper rails i shot in NC were grayish. not sure on the other one.

    post a picture of the head and mantle feathers and I can tell you what it is.
