I always put way more work into ripples and splash than I need to. I though I would develop a mold for the ripple, and then incorporate the splash into it. First, I used potters clay to create the ripple...

Next, I painted on 4 coats of dragon skin to create the mold...

Then, a mother mold was made using Plasti-Paste...

Here is a photo of the original casting, the silicone mold, and the mother mold...

After cleaning the mold, I used Enviro-Tex as my casting material..

When de-molding, the Enviro-Tex will have a frost appearance. Brushing on a topcoat of Enviro-Tex will clear it up

For the splash itself, I use flourescent light diffuser molded in front of a heat gun. I've tried the beads, with limited success

Finally, the ripple is attached to the base using Enviro-Tex, an acrylic rod supports the mount, and the splash is hot-glued in place.
