turkey fleshing

    I'm for sure not a bird guy, I try fleshing this turkey by hand as best I can then go to the bird flesher. But the wheel seems to burn up the quil ends for lack of a better term, is this normal?
    I am not tearing or ripping holes in the skin just seems to eat up the quils.

    Your flesher is probably spinning pretty quick. Try lighter pressure and work between the rows of quills

    make sure you are skinning in the direction of the quills are going. If you try and go against the grain you will tear it up.
