This is a reproduction of a truly massive African lion skull that has been cast in durable urethane plastic. I'd imagine you've probably heard of freakishly large specimens of certain animal species that dwarf most others of their kind, like Hogzilla, Snakezilla, etc - and the lion that the original skull came from was one of those rare Goliaths of its kind, so much so that the Safari Club's all time top ten listings only have 7 lion skulls that meet or top 28", and then the two largest of all in each category measure 28 6/16! So this Lionzilla is only 6/16" shy from being the largest ever recorded, at 16 1/2" long by 11 1/2" wide (total score of 28!).. As this lion was most likely taken in the wild, there's no way for sure to know how much it weighed, but I have seen the skull of a captive lion that was only about a 16th on an inch smaller than this one, and that lion tipped the scales at a whopping 790lbs! Being that this was a wild lion, it may not have reached that weight simply due to the fact that wild animals aren't usually as well fed as captive animals. Officially, the largest lion ever taken in the wild that was actually weighed was 690lbs, but trophy animals are seldom weighed out in the bush, as weight is really only important record-wise when it comes to certain non-terrestrial animals like fish. Either way, this lion surely would have met the wild record weight at least.

Curious if this is for sale? Or is this one of Schrekens pieces?
