i have done 5 or 6 coyote European mounts in the last year and a wolf. I finished the mounts and put them on a shelf to display and the other day I was looking and all four of my wolves canines and one of the next tooth over were split all the way through. So I got to looking and most of my coyotes have some split canines as well. Is there anyway to prevent this from happening? Or fixing it if it already has? I have done a lot of other species and none of them have a single one. I was looking online and I read it comes with age and that it's a way to tell its old but it hasn't even been a year and if there is ways to prevent or not do what causes it. Thankyou!

Do search from the skull and bones forum section and you'll find a lot of discussion on the topic. Here's one sample with some good info http://www.taxidermy.net/forum/index.php/topic,13577.msg71044.html#msg71044
