Over a month ago I came across a common house cat un-collared that had met a bad fate. The feline had suffered what looked to have been a near clean kill by a car or truck. I put it in a bag and then later transferred it to another bag, this new one I filled with a full box of borax. The cat was still in rigamortis when I found it and was just at the start of being attacked by insects.

I want to preserve it's pelt/paws/ and skull.

I have removed a skull before ultra carefully from a rabbit. I assume this job would be just as delicate. However the rabbit was a snake food one that had not spent a month in powder to dry it out & sanitize it.

This thing hasn't been gutted and I'm really unsure if a salt bath is a good idea. Advice?
I'm not a professional, but I've not quite a novice at taxidermy either. My last project was working with deer pelts, and they came out quite nice.

I think the skull might still be salvageable.............
