Runny Buckeye Supreme Hide Paste

I just opened a new gallon of Buckeye Supreme Hide Paste and found the consistency to be very runny like it was watered down. I found the same thing on a gallon I just finished up from last year and when I called McKenzie they blamed it on the cold weather during shipping, but that was certainly not the case on this new gallon. The runny glue is sloppy when applying it and also does not seem to stick and tack up as well either. Is anybody else experiencing this or know what the deal is?

Also, for those that have used Buckeye Supreme in the past and now use Pro-1 Hide Paste, is the consistency better? It may be time to switch hide paste.

Night and day difference in the consistency of the two brands. Pro-1 is almost as thick as peanut butter but spreads easily. I still have close to gallon of Buckeye left from when I first tried Pro-1. I haven't used the first pin in a WT since switching. When I was using Buckeye it seemed I usually had to stir it because it seemed the liquid/moisture in it would always come to the top.

Do you apply Pro-1 with a paint brush?

I've used Buckeye for years. Is it now Runny? Yes!

Once McKenzie got ahold of Buckeye they changed the formula to the hide paste. Hell I even had a bucket MOLD up on me for the first time ever.

The two gallons that I ordered last year were very runny. Before that it was thick.

I had a 5 gallon bucket last year that was fine when I opened it and then it turned runny after awhile. Ordered an new bucket for this year and it is fine as of now. Ive been keeping it on a milk crate off of my floor, I have heated floors and I was thinking that was what caused last year bucket to turn runny. I was also thinking about switching to pro-1, might have to order a gallon of that to try it out...

Add some dry past to it if it is too runny.

I've been mixing a little Dextrin in with the Roman 555 with excellent results. Last few gallons I've opened where real runny compared to what I used to get. Im sure it would be ok in Buck eye as well. Guess I'll be trying the Pro-1soon to see how awesome it really is.
