Gloves and finish work

Discussion in 'Deer and Gameheads' started by tcgoggs, Feb 28, 2016.

  1. I'm just wondering how many of you guys wear gloves when working with apoxie sculpt or other similar products. I switched from apoxie sculpt to all game and noticed after I get done that I get a lot of spots on my fingers where the top layer of epidermis seems to die. Anyone else have this problem? Could it be the safety solvent?

I never wore gloves for anything for over twenty years. Now I wear gloves for every aspect of taxidermy. Gloves are much better.

Costco has Nitrite gloves that work great and are cheap. I wear gloves for most of the taxidermy work that I do. Also, baby powder on your hands gets them on a lot easier.

Safety solvent is pretty strong stuff, dries out your skin.

Apoxie clay is easier on the hands than apoxie sculpt.

I use apoxie sculpt without the gloves but I don't use solvent, just water to smooth
