Really Mckenzie????

Discussion in 'Fish Taxidermy' started by Bryan Russell, Mar 15, 2016.

  1. Just be glad Amazon and Walmart hasn't seen the need to go into the taxidermy supply business yet.

Jared, when pricing a finished mount, you have to figure for those contingencies before hand and add them in or you will spend your life chasing your ass.
I don't tell my customers what I pay for the needed materials for their mount and they don't ask. If I did it would have a markup added to that total, just like any other trade.
It has been stated over and over again, most everyone knows how the game is played when it comes to shipping, don't order one small item at a time, it costs the supplier just about as much to pay an employee to pack and ship it as it does multiple items.

My whole issue isn't McKenzie, their pricing policy or even their high shipping charges. It is the nitwits trying to say otherwise. Their prices are high and their shipping is high. End of story. The why's are not important. It is obvious and undeniable.

  4. You guys dont have much to whinge about , think your selves lucky you dont have to pay their freight costs to this part of the world , Australia.

This thread is about being gouged on shipping, not a complaint of the product price per se. Not to mention, the price shopping customer complaint made by taxidermists usually presents an argument of "quality" work being undercut by poor. There are actually numerous taxidermy products being sold by smaller suppliers that are recognized as superior to what is available at McKenzie...so that same argument doesn't work. And with McKenzie's resources nobody should effectively undercut them, so, where the same exact product is available at a lower price, only a dolt would pay the higher cost.

Historically, the average taxidermist's business has no similarity to McKenzie Taxidermy Supply. Talk about age old arguments, taxidermists have to be cajoled to increase their game head prices the same $15 that Brian had to eat on McKenzie shipping charges. They have local competition and there is no monopoly.

I guess I haven't made my point as clear as I thought. It seems that many folks want the suppliers to take a pay cut so that they can make more on their end. Come on people, we all want good customer service and a broad range of products with timely processing. Those things cost money. Maybe they shouldn't, but that is what this feel good, PC world has come to and there is no going back. The guy scrubbing the floors thinks he is worth as much as the guy sculpting the forms.
I get the feeling of being stung with high shipping, for example. It just cost me more to have a small box shipped from a closer place than it did to have 2 shoulder forms and a couple fish forms sent from MK in Wisc. Have I been here whining about it? No, it was a small oversight by me and I accept that I will make a tad less on that mount, but it won't break my business.

duxdog, I'm sorry about your terminal erection. You know, over 4 hours you should have seen a doctor anyway. If you can't keep up with multiple points in a complex discussion, feel free to go back to your Commodore 64. I doubt anyone who thinks that making a client pay for supplies is "gouging" will back you up here anyway. And for those of you who keep insisting that McKenzie is gouging you, how friggin smart are you to keep coming on here whining about it. Buy your supplies from Headquarters, Joe Coombs, Research, or Ohio Taxidermy Supply Then go to WalMart or Hobby Lobby or Michaels and finish out your order. End of this perpetual soap opera song and dance about suppliers killing your business.

He is my choice. I'm delighted to see that you have a scintilla of cognitive abilities left. I'm assuming you're voting for Bernie Sanders. He's about your speed.

One of my guys bought a pair of eyes for a bird carving, $4.00 plus the $16.00 shipping. I heard a figure from an reliable source that McKenzie added a full 8% to their net profit last year on freight mark up alone. If that's true they are very clever.

You're confusing him with Trump. Trump said we'll bring down shipping costs and make America great again. You'll love it! You wait and see! ;D

Well, Cecil, if I was willing to take a tip from anyone, YOU would be the last person on this earth I'd look too. For the last 8 years we've "enjoyed" the POS you kept telling us was going to make America great with "Hope and Change". Now you bitch about shipping costs? What a friggin hypocrite. Where do you think employers are supposed to pay Obamacare from? I think I warned you back then that one day judgement day would come to you socialist democrats and it looks like the TRUMPettes are about to start blowing. You've better find that hole you crawled out of with the Obama sticker.

BTW, I love "reliable sources". Did they also tell you that McKenzie offers up to $100 off shipping to clients who buy volume. That's on top of the TWELVE PERCENT they offer those buyers as well? i just got an $900 order from them last week with FREE SHIPPING.

Cecil, you sound like Carly Simon. "He's so vain, he probably thinks this song is about him." DUMBASS! If you don't read my post then why would you tell someone else you ignore them if you didn't know I'd actually said anything. Clueless socialist democrat.
