    When fleshing a deer cape with a wheel do you go with the hair or against just started using one thanks

    do most of you guys actually use the fleshing wheel around the eyes lips and nose i chicken out and go with a skiff knife

    I flesh by hand, the eyes, nose and lips to mountable condition before salting, then after tan, shave on the machine, I shave the nostrils and lips, but save the eyes for final thin when prepping. The more that you take off when splitting, the less you have for prep and shave.

    I shave everything until I get to what needs tucked then I skife those areas.
