Trapper2016 Thanks for this awesome forum!

Hope everyone had a great Christmas. I have been doing a little experimenting lately with molding and casting. I have been wanting some realistic red eyed tree frog reptile replicas to paint, but the problem was that their is only one available that i know of, and that is from Morgans. Its a nice replica, but not exactly what i was looking for. I really wanted some different positions, so i tried to set out to make my own. The first picture is a red eyed tree frog magnet that was produced overseas made out of PVC plastic. I was curious if I could cut it apart with an exacto knife at the joints similar to how we modify mammal forms, and then put it back together in any position that I wanted. So I cut it apart and ran wires through the body and appendages and tried to keep the anatomy as accurate as i could. I then used apoxie sculpt to rough in areas that were missing or voids. I then made a mold and cast those parts and then assembled them and painted accordingly. It turned out to be a lot of work but didn't turn out to bad overall. This was just an experiment and this of course is not for profit and just for my own home enjoyment. Have a good New Year everybody.

Biggest canebrake I've ever seen! This south Georgia snake was 64 inches long! Carved body and cast head on this guy .

Got this nice eastern Diamondback going for another taxidermist buddy of mine . Altered commercial form to a striking pose . He's going to be mounted with a squirrel.
