pickle? (transporting skins)

    aussiesam I'm an Australian.

Asking your advice as I don't work on reptiles.

A friend usually has his croc skins tanned, (for leather work) but his tannery has closed and he is now planning to take some raw skins with him when he relocates houses interstate.
He will not have access to a freezer on the drive, (a 2 day drive).

His question to me was: Can he place skins into a pickle and keep the skins in that until he finds someone to tan the skins?

    Thank you.

They can be sailted. They will last like that for weeks maybe months.

I fleshed, salted and dried my gator then stored it for 9 months. It's in a pickle now and doing fine.
