I have been tanning my own fox and coyotes with good results using ez 100. i don't have easy/cheap access to hardwood sawdust and dont have a tumbler (yet) My question is how can i clean excess softening oil (Knoblochs tanning oil #1) out of the fur once im finished with the process. i have been rinsing them with water and a little hair shampoo but im worried it may be washing the softening oil out as well. plus i have to re break the leather as the water dries out of the pelt. any ideas?

    thanks!

If you do not have access to a drum or hardwood saw dust, you can achieve the desired finish by using cornmeal rubbing it deep into the fur, then adding the cornmeal into a plastic bag with the fur you can shake the bag till the desired condition is achieved, then brush out and pound dust out of the pelt.
