I just finished a rattlesnake mount but hesitate to spray a clear flat or satin finish on it since rattlesnakes don't necessarily appear shiny in the wild. Has anyone ever tried a reptile skin conditioner like you would use on a pair of boots as an alternative to spray on clear coat? Thought a conditioner might hydrate the skin and bring out the scale colors without making it shiny.

Thanks Kerby. Might have to give boot conditioner a try and post the results.

Try a 50/50 mix of denatured alcohol and glycerine oil
