Hey guys, been a while since I've posted anything, but I'm so hacked off right now I wanted to see how everyone else feels about this.
I have been trying different tannerys the last few years trying to find one I'm happy with. I hate bashing anyone on social medias but Im so sick of going in circles with these guys! Has anyone else had problems with getting your capes back from Midwest Fur Dressing?! I sent my last batch of capes off in January and have been calling them the last couple months to see where my capes are in the tanning process. I keep getting the same thing, "Yeah we have some of the capes almost done"..."They are in the shaving process"...and so on. The last time I talked to them was about 2 weeks ago and they said " Yes, we will have your capes sent out next week". Well guess what... I didn't see any capes last week nor this week! I've had this go around for 2 months now! Is there ANY good tannery that will be honest with you and get your capes done in a reasonable time frame?

  2. I use Pine Acers Tannery in Ohio. They are ran by the Amish and they do a very nice job especially on sheeps, rams, and goats. I send all of that stuff to them and my life size stuff like bears. I still tan all my deer hides in house. They have very good prices and have a decent turn around rate.

Wildlife Gallery never had an issue and they have a 30-45 turn around for rush service. It's additional 50% but to me the time not waiting equals the extra money. I'm mounting deer in March not August. just the way I prefer to have it done. Good folks great service. Hope this helps.

Thanks guys for the suggestions. I've had several people tell me about Wildlife Gallery and may just be who I try this coming season.

  5. We would love to have your business. And we have plenty of references. Here is one of our deer capes.

Midwest Fur is slow but I've been happy with their tan, just takes some patience with them.

Yeah I think their tan is great, but they need to get it together. Hire more help or whatever they have to do to get these hides done faster because 6-7 months is ridiculous in my opinion.

I know midwest has had some problems with turnover with some employees . Probably why they are running behind.

  10. Wildlife Gallery has been running 6 months out for me. Also looking for better turn around, first year I've had this issue with the gallery.
