I need some advice from those who have experience with mounting quail.
I have never mounted a quail but have mounted ducks using a replacement skull with very good results. I would like to do the same with a pair of California quail but can only find replacement skulls for Mountain quail. I see no reason why they wouldn't work but would just like some input from others before I order forms. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Mountain quail are generally larger than the California ones in my experience. I used the replacement heads before and much prefer using the real head. It is always just the right size if I build the muscle up correctly.

I would use the Valley Quail head from McKenzie and if you don't want to use the beak, it can be ground off.

It may seem daunting at first, but you will like it if you try.

I would never use a replacement head on a quail. There is no point to it.
