I really don't know all the particulars behind this but got a call from a customer that bought two "reindeer" hides from a store, tanned. Now one is soft tanned but the other is hard and flat. He bought these several years ago to make a coat out of. he said after a period of time they started to smell rotten, though no hair loss, bugs, or slime. I have not seen these myself but told him to bring them in so I can take a look at them. he said he will have to pull them out of the box as he stored them in a garbage bag and box. I was thinking a shampoo wash or deodorizer might work to remove some if not all the odor....Any one have any input or suggestions?

    Thank you all, Robert

not really till you get the hides in hand and then go from there with help.
