These are the rules of the Taxidermy Net Forums. We hope these guidelines provide users a point of reference with which to understand why a post may have been moderated or removed. The ultimate aim of the rules is to enable members to enjoy contributing to the Forum and for others to enjoy your contributions. What is set out below is merely a framework, not an absolute set of rules and regulations. It will be necessary at times to moderate posts for reasons that are not outlined below. These rules may be changed at any time for any reason. For specific questions about interpretation of these rules, contact the Forum Administrator.

    1. Show Respect. One does not have to be a professional to post a message in the forum, but keeping a professional attitude is called for. The forum is a community, and to make it an inhabitable one, respect, courtesy and professionalism are all required accessories.

    2. Commercial messages. Commercial messages are allowed within reason if they contain interesting information for all visitors of this forum. If in doubt, please contact the forum administrator. Commercial ads with prices are specifically not allowed unless the item advertised is a very special single quantity item. If a company wishes to advertise professional services or supplies, they should purchase advertising instead of relying on a free bulletin board.

    3. Off-Topic. No spamming (junk e-mail), invitation to chain letters, get-rich-quick schemes, adult entertainment sites, online casinos and the like. Forum administrators will delete the messages and lock out offending accounts. Despite our best efforts, you will occasionally see these things on the Forum. Please ignore them or report them to the administrator. We will delete these topics as soon as possible.

    4. Bashing. No personally slamming any other taxidermist, association, supplier, product, or other contributors to the Forums. Please keep posts clean, professional, and courteous. It is perfectly acceptable to disagree with someone, but don't be rude. No personal insults or name-calling, please!

    5. Flaming. Anonymous postings that are mean-spirited are not allowed. The Forums will not be used to belittle, humiliate or blackmail someone's enemies, competitors, or one who wronged them in the past. If you wish to make a public accusation about someone by name, you should be willing to post your own name, address and phone number.

    6. Duplicate Posts. Please do not post the same message to multiple categories! Rest assured that people monitoring the forums will see your message, regardless of the category it is in. Posting the same question two or three times in a row will not lead to a faster response. It just clutters up the board, splits any potential responses between two (or more) threads, and frankly irritates everyone.

    7. Wrong Categories. "For Sale" or "Wanted" messages placed in the taxidermy discussion categories (i.e. "Birds" or "Gameheads") will be removed.

    8. Personal Messages. Personal Messages to Specific Individuals. Please don't use the Forum to carry on personal correspondence with another person, use the private message system instead. Forum messages should not be used in place of private e-mail.

    9. Fighting. A public fight or feud between two parties. Just like a bartender would tell you, take your fight somewhere else.

    10. Impersonating Someone Else. Posts submitted by authors pretending to be written by someone else are not allowed.

    11. Power-Posting and Bumping. Power-posting is when members post empty, or short useless messages in order to simply increase their number of posts more quickly. Examples of power-posting are replying to a message with only 'LOL' or 'I agree', but failing to contribute anything further to the discussion. Power posting clutters up the forums, clutters up the 'new posts' function, and uses extra bandwidth and server space. This also applies to "Bump" and "ttt (To the Top)" messages which are only intended to move a topic up to the front of the board, even if they are cleverly disguised. Messages of this nature will be removed, and repeated violations will result in account suspension.

    12. "For Sale" and "Wanted" Post Bumping. In the "For Sale" and "Wanted" categories, "Bump" and "ttt (To the Top)" messages which are intended to move a topic up to the front of the board, WILL be allowed after 10 days. More frequent use of "Bump" or "ttt" messages will be removed, and repeated violations will result in account suspension.

    13. "For Sale" and "Wanted" Multiple Posts. In the "For Sale" and "Wanted" categories, instead of making several ads for different items, members are asked to please combine their ads into a single posting whenever possible and limit new ads to one per day including bumps (you may bump your ad every 10 days). If moderators see multiple ads from the same member taking up several spots on the home page, moderators may combine these postings into one topic or delete them if necessary.

    14. Titles. Make sure your title reflects the subject of your message. Do not use ambiguous titles such as "HELP!" or "Look at this!"

    15. Inappropriate Content. The Taxidermy Net Forum is used by young people as well as adults, so topics or posts should be suitable for people of all ages and sensibilities. The use of profanity is prohibited. Thinly disguised profanity using initials or letters and symbols is still considered profanity, and is not allowed. Hijacking threads by inserting remarks about sexuality, genitalia, fornication, or bestiality is not allowed. Making personal sexual remarks to other members is not allowed. We have many young members, so assuming that another member is an adult may not be correct.

    16. Post Removal. When a post has been removed by a moderator, do not make a new post about the removed post. Any post referencing a removed post will also be removed, and repeated violations will result in account suspension.

We welcome the input of professionals. We ask for your help to keep these Forums professional.
