Hello, I was wondering if anyone could explain to me what a sweatbox is. Here's what a dictionary says about it: "a device for causing tobacco leaves, fruit, or hides to sweat". I have a feeling that this term might be quite outdated, but I can't be sure. I would be very grateful if anyone could shed some light on this.

to sweat a hide in our term generally means a dry tanned hide, which needs to be hydrated. After the soak it is drain and placed in bag and put in the fridge over night cause the rest of the hide to totally hydrate safely. The next day the cape should be hydrated to be mounted. This is what we call sweating a hide.
