Turkey in freezer for few years

Discussion in 'Bird Taxidermy' started by ARCHERSTAXIDERMY, Feb 18, 2017.

I have a turkey to mount guy said it's been in freezer 4 years just wondering if that will be a problem.

It will probably be a problem. Most turkey's are not sealed well when bagged, or holes get in the bag and allow dessication. I usually salvage the tail, feet, and beard and use the cape off a donor bird.

I have had skinned turkeys of mine in the freezer for four years that were fine. A customer brought me some turkey tails to mount that one was frozen for six years and the other for one. Both were so freezer burned, they were freeze dried.
Thawing it out will give you your answer.
  4. I don't know if I have the record but I mounted one 11 years after I shot it. It was in the freezer that long. Feet didn't shrink at all but were a little stiff. Won praise from the judge and got a second place in masters.
  5. that's crazy! How did you have it bagged?
