slipping capes after mounting

    will capes that are slipping after mounting stop after they are dry

    you need to find out why your capes are slipping. Tanning is generally not the problem for slippage. If you tanned them what was your process?

    split and turn lips and flesh cape. then rub salt in well then put on stretcher for 24 hours to allow to drain .then rinse briefly then into pickle 2 and half 0z of acid 5 lbs of salt 5gallons of cold water check ph and stir several times daily for three days shave then back pickle for day then nuetalize 3gallons water and 3 tablespoons of baking soda for 30 minutes roll in towels for couple hours than brush on tan

    Got to shave that guy at some point after you pickle it the first time. I only pickle for 24hrs,neutralize,shave then tan, that's just me. Never had an issue. But shaving gets rid of a ton of membrane that will block tan from penetrating the hide, you may already know that, just throwin it out there. Also make sure you change the water in your pickle solution as well. Usually the first will pull out blood etc... And look like muddy water after a while.
