Who are the best fish taxidermists out there?
How Can you expect an answer to that question? It's like asking which restaurant makes the best hamburger. There's lots of choices and a lot of opinions
Probably could start with those who have won world titles and continue to win consistently in the Masters division.
Dave Campbell, Daniel Blackstone, and Tim Jo are my favorites, but too many to mention!
Boy, how do we assemble such a list? Active taxidermists? the best ever? who can do such things... I guess I'll try and put some together. In no particular ranking or order whatsoever....
Tim Overbaugh (Timjo)
I am sure there are some I'm missing, but it's not maliciously. That's a pretty darn comprehensive list of talent. Proud to call most of them my friends.
Each has a specialty or fish they are more or less known for. But all are active today, whether it be retail or just a hobby. And all very, very good.
I totally agree with Bill. Too many taxidermists are talented artists. Every burger joint is not the same.
So many "bests" out there. I will add to Jimmy's list:
And I am sure the list will grow.
I do not see Jeff Lumsden listed, so now that is taken care of.
Dale Cornetet, may he rest in peace, painted a steelhead that was second to none.
Randy Desarmou is another great one.
The late, Ron Pittard
John Edwards (U.K.)
Ole Schankes (Norway)...
all good. I only listed guys that are still with us today . The one's that have passed on are super valid also!!! Some more so than the living for sure!
Pretty cool to see the list!
I'd be honored to have any big you guys mount my fish.one day when I get more financially stable I can't wait to have some fish done by you guys.
Jeff Brain from Canada
Daniel Hroch (Czech Republic)
Talent around the globe. The best are the one's who share their process so I can improve. And so.....a few whom I've learned from who (I think) have yet gone unrecognized:
Ultimately, it all depends on your definition of....... http://www.taxidermy.net/forum/index.php/topic,374357.msg2512728.html#msg2512728
Ken Newton, Sean Drenth, Steve Klee, Chad See, Steve Silseth, Peter Johnson (Outdoorzman), Christian Carlson, Vincent Fleming, Tyler Erickson (bright future), Mark Oslund, the folks at Advanced Taxidermy.......and on and on, if your Rolodex isn't full of admiration you've reached your limit.
I forgot so many! I knew I would. Really awesome stuff. I'd have mentioned Scott too but idk your last name hahahaha. So many talented fish guys. I'm glad you posted the links to vernelsons fish . That hen brown is insane
Josh Knuth and so many more than don't have time to post or have gotten busy with other things... outdoorsman, advanced, many others. Really great.
