With an audience like fish taxidermists, this ought to be interesting. What is the biggest ______ you've ever mounted?. This is for skin mounts and only for freshwater fish. I'm most interested in the kind of fish we commonly take in. Since the you probably didn't catch your biggest fish, you have no reason to exaggerate. ;D I'm interested in LENGTH only. Let the fun begin.

Re: What's the biggest one you've ever mounted?

I re-worded my post title. "BIGGEST" is relative to the kind of fish. A 12" bluegill is huge but a 12" pike is a dink. A 25" smallmouth is record class length while a 25" walleye is just "nice size." I'm interested in hearing about the biggest fish FOR IT'S KIND that you've mounted. Cecil, I'll never forget that 21" crappie mount you had hanging to dry. If that wasn't the IN record, it must have been close.
    Carry on.....

Holy cow I knew there would be some giants posted. Hey JohnC.....do you remember how long that 19lb walleye was? And what the hell do you use for a body form for a 225 lb gar?

It was only a matter of time. Thanks Brian. ::)

  20. Yea I use the old mache and wrapped body on the gar. I bought the mache from Mr Haynes and Lola over in Popular bluff. You know the stuff that would set up rock hard and had asbestos in it.
I think the walleye was 36 orad a nice girth so it . may still have a picture, it would be at the shop.

Back in the late 1970s early 1980s I mounted a lot of fish with that mache and wrapped bodies.

The gar had died in a commercial fishermans net. So could not be a record.
