anyone have tracings for hazel grouse, hooded crow, jay, black cock
anyone? need caper to along with blackcock hooded crow hazel
It's been a long time, and I've only received one, but I remember that a hazel grouse fit perfectly on a mountain quail form. Black cocks are equivalent to prairie chickens or sharptails, and for capercaillies I ended up using a form from Reasearch (which fit nicely) because nobody seemed to have any contact sketches.
I have some measurements here some where but no sketches. I will look today.
thanks Nancy, yes the hazel are tiny...have tracings for mearns valley, but didnt save mountain tracings...are they close? The sharpie and pinnaetets I have are quite different in size but chicken is lesser ,and Jay if you can email me or pm me any numbers will be grateful, still have to post a pic of the sages from you...assume a nw or smaller com crow would work for hooded.
Byrdman, here are the dimensions of my mountain quail sketches. They're pretty big for quail, but not ruffed grouse sized.
front of breast to end of rump: 4 1/4" (add another 3/8" for tail bone)
highest point of back to lowest point of breast (top to bottom) 2 5/8"
width across hips and widest point of breast meat is the same - 2 1/8"
Neck is 3' from between wing sockets, or 2 5/8" from front of breast
Shape-wise they're completely ordinary, so just scale up any quail sketch and you will have it.
thanks jay...big help!
anyone know if hooded crow is same size as common n.american crow? and still need capercallie tracings or size
Pat, sorry for my delay, but will give you all you need in a few days
ok thanks Rai
