I was very surprised what this cross was.
wood duck x ring neck duck?
Changed my mind Wood Duck X Goldeneye
Wood duck x East Indies is my guess.
I'm with spencer2 on this one, that is what I saw at first look but didn't have a chance to respond.
whatever it is its a beautiful duck and a great mount
Not close so far. It's a large duck.
Is it part tree duck?
Muscovy x mallard?
paradise shell duck x mallard
I'll take a whack at this.... how about a Mallard x Southern Pochard
Australian Shell and Muscovy or Comb duck
Mallard x cayuga
This is a wood duck X mallard cross
Muscovy x mallard would also be a good guess.
On second thought I think Alex C nailed it. Cayuga x Mallard?
mallard goldeneye or a bad mount job on the head...
Spencer nailed it. Muscovy Mallard. Came out to be a beautiful bird. I bet there were a lot of rejects for every nice bird. Hayward Cloud mounted this bird. It's nicely done as all of his are. Striking bird. I never thought anything bred with a Muscovy could look decent. It had size and tail from a Muscovy.
A wild muscovy is actually a gorgeous bird, closely related to a wood duck. It's just that most of the ones we see are those domesticated monstrosities.
If we saw them like this more often . . .
funny there is no bare skin area around face and eyes...
