I hate it when I do that!

Apparently my last fish skinning knife got lost in a pile of fish carcasses and is now resting peacefully in a landfill somewhere. Then a day later my scraping tool comes up missing. Fortunately the latest carcasses were in the freezer and when I thawed them out out there it was.

I usually have two skinning knives just in case I do this, but must have done the same to the other one at some point.

    Anybody else do this?

I will have to make sure when I have a pile of carcasses that all tools are accounted for!

I didn't do that but I did plant a pair of glasses in one of 20 holes when I planted trees once! They slid out of my shirt pocket when I was wearing sunglasses. My wife made me get the ones that darken automatically when you go out so that now I don't need 2 pairs ::).

Cecil, your not alone, I could misplace anything in my shop that is not bolted to something! when I finish skinning, my tools get wrapped in a towel and set beside the sink in the house for cleaning as my shop does not have running water I had skun a fish recently and had full intentions of my tools making it to the house for cleaning. I for some reason, set the folded up towel of tools on the rear bumper of my vehicle, maybe to go check the mail, lol back in the shop I went. forgot all about them. noticed the folded up towel on the rear bumper as I walked around the back of the vehicle at the country store!! LUCKY

Well Cecil, at least you're not a surgeon stitching up a patient and then wondering where your tools are.
I once got a pheasant for mounting and put it on the tailgate of my truck. Then I drove 40 miles down the highway. Couldn't believe it when I checked and the bird was still there. Whew!

To add to this I have set something down and when I went to look for it minutes later I couldn't find it. After searching everywhere all the sudden it shows up right in front of me. This has happened several times.

I do this all the time!!! There is a medical term for it, it's called Prosopagnosia. It's described as being unable to see (or recognize) a familiar object or person, even though you are looking directly at it! It drives my wife nuts!

Do not let your wife touch tools (if you are married.) They never put them back. On my end, oh yeah, I lose things in plain sight. We rearranged a Bahamas trip partly because i lost my passport, which are guard religiously. Scoured the house from top to bottom, gave up, got a new one, rescheduled the trip. Oh, I did find it later. It was in the night stand next to my bed, under immigration papers from last years trip and a box of 30-06 ammo. Within arms length, yet, my preconceived ideas of where it must be screwed things up big time. You are not alone Cecil.
