First of all, I don't ask this question to start a urinating contest, I have a legitimate reason for my question. I'm on numerous fishing forums and from time to time I and others post pictures of fish we have done for the enjoyment of others and in all honesty any free advertising is a plus. Members also ask for recommendations for taxidermist in their area. Anyway some very good work shows up as well as some truly cringeworthy mounts. It seems that the more hideous the mount, the more praise it gets! Lol. I'm guessing this is true in other areas of taxidermy and not just fish. Anyway, I don't proclaim myself to be a fish God but have been at this a long time and confident that I produce a quality commercial fish. I've also seen that the consensus of the average Joe is that a skin mount doesn't last. By the looks of some of the fish that I see they are probably accurate in their assumption. Is this the experience of others?
