Red eared slider shell still smells really bad? Any tips

    I was thinking of soaking it in acetone by afraid the schutes will fall off.ive tried borax,dawn,tide.after it dries it smells horrible.an tips? Thanks

    I would use brown bottle peroxide. It's only like 3%. It's low enough % wise to were it won't change the colors of the shell. Just soak it down really good and after the bubbling stops wash off thoroughly with clean water. You may have to do this more than once. But eventually it will kill the bacteria causing the smell.
