Methanol

    Could Methanol be used for pickling animal hides and fish instead of Denatured Alcohol? Also, could it be used for degreasing ducks? It would be nice to be able to use one chemical for everything and Denatured alcohol and Coleman fuel are a bit pricey. Methanol can be purchased at about 1/4th of the cost.

    If it costs more, charge more, pretty simple. Methanol is neither a pickle nor a degreaser.

    Colemans fuel and VM&P Naptha are the same thing arent they? You can buy the naptha at a paint store in 5 gallon cans for a lot less than colemans.

    i thought methanol had addatives in it that some believe harmful to their engines. Made from grains??

    Do any of you guys use Denatured 50/50 for pickling?

    No, you need acid for pickling.
