    Not sure where you live, but most larger cities have stores that specialize in materials for wood carvers.... and then you can order on line. I would also recommend the Breakthrough manual for fish wood carving.

    I do some woodcarving and while being in Minnesota I have access to my own wood, I would suggest a source for any carving wood you would like. www.heineckewood.com is located in Wisconsin and they have an EXCELLENT reputation with the woodcarving community. If you need a special size of wood, just write or call them and they will glue up any size wood that you need. People that have ordered from them have glowing reports as to the quality of their wood, easy to carve and their basswood is Northern basswood, which is the desirable wood for carving. Good luck. Gene
