Broken Antler Mount Help

Discussion in 'Skulls and Skeletons' started by adbrooks8, Dec 13, 2017.

  1. I got in an older antler mount that was dropped and broke the skull cap in half. It was mounted on a little foam form like come with the kits. My question is what do you think the best way to repair is? I was thinking elmers glue it back together and clamp while drying. Then maybe fill the cap with bondo to hopefully prevent it again. What do you guys think?

sew it back together with wire. I even think there is a tutorial on it, if you look.

I do just what you said, I glue that 2 sides together, then fill the skull cap with bondo. If you take saran wrap and flatten the bondo (on the 'flat side), and let it dry, you can just remove the saran wrap and all should work out. Good luck.
  4. I would follow up with drilling a pilot hole through each half of the skull through the bondo and screw it onto the wood plaque.
