I can ask, Gary's brother Wayne works in my shop part time. I think he turned patent over to a machine shop.

George The older I get, the better I was.

A PATENT? On that thing? Geeze. Last time I checked, a patent ended up costing between $10,000 and $12,000. I can buy one helluva lot of ear splitter tools for that kind of money.

Your correct George, he is just subbing the metal work out to a machine shop cheaper no patent. They work really well for stubborn ears with a little stop rot. Worth having.

Personally, since walking and chewing gum at the same time can be difficult for me, I much prefer to use my thumb and forefinger so that I can feel the separation and I can SEE when hairs are starting to pull through before the hide tears.
