    bucksnort10,

How do you put the skin around the manikin with the wings already attached? Is there an incision from the breast to the wing that allows you to slide the skin on and then sew it up?

The wings are not fixed in place ... yet. I have them on the manniken ahead of time so I can more easily get it to dry where I want it. I then remove the wing(s), add the skin, then install wings next . . . prior to sewing up.

The woodcock wing is part of my ongoing trials on extra wings, trying to get a better looking wing. VS failing on my mounts. : ) Also been experimenting with feather bending at the same time. Ha! I like to try different things to see what works for me. A lot easier to practice on extra wings than a prized bird.

Okay, I think if I ever mount a turkey or a swan that I’ll use this method. Thanks for showing.

Trapper2016 Thanks for this awesome forum!

Kinda ahamed to post it, but oh well. This is my 2nd duck overall. It intially was going to be a flying mount but i couldn't get it to look right, so i did it as a dead mount. I definetly see my flaws including the lack of "limpness" of the dangling appendages. There is a reason for that. Mainly just lack of planning. Anyway, Tons of stuff to work on, but hopefully my next duck will be better. And i would like to thank the individual who gifted me this bird. I was thrilled to have the opportunity. red breasted merganser.JPG

    Have a great weekend

I haven't done one of those yet Brooke and don't want to. They just sound and look like way too much work. I'll have em call you, alright?
