Removing Watusi Horn from skull

Discussion in 'Skulls and Skeletons' started by Northview, Jan 16, 2018.

  1. I'm looking for someone with experience in removing the horn sleeve off a Watusi. I have a skull cleaning business with beetles and have done a few watusi's in the past but have always had a heck of a time getting the horn sleeve off from the bone after the beetle work. any advice would be great. Thank You, Scott

Use the Advanced Search and look in the titles for watusi horns. There is even a very well done tutorial. Might want to give it a look and try. Might be because after time in with the beetles, the horn cap is drying out and shrinking.

I submerge my steer skulls in the pond for a week or two and they slide out pretty easy.
