Snapper identification help

Discussion in 'Fish Taxidermy' started by Jean-Christophe, Mar 5, 2018.

  1. Hello, I'm a into bones but I need help for the identification of a fish so I thought I could ask here.
I got a snapper head in fish shop with no ID on it and I wasn't able to figure out what species it might be except that it belong to Lutjanus genus, and sadly color don't seems helping when it comes to snappers...
I'm in France and most of time fish here comes from Atlantic but not always.
This head was all I saw from this fish. This fish head is 6,9 inches long form tip of jaw to tip of operculum, bones are thick, eyes and jaws are proportionnaly large compare to Lutjanus jocu (the other species I have).

It'd be great if some people could to a guess work or give me some candidate fish species.

    Thanks in advance
