Did something similar with live fish in a tank! Decided to drop the water level about a foot so I pulled a knife gate valve expecting to come right back. Got distracted helping my dad with something that lives on my property.
Guess what? Fish don't live long without water! And three hours is plenty of time to drain a 500 gallon system. I was so mad at myself!
I was at ken Walkers and I walked out the back door of his shop. There was a freezer out there and a very bad smell too. I said Ken I think you have a dead freezer out there. He went running outside to check it out.
Whew! It was just two bear paws I have outside to mascerate.
