ram/sheep identification

Discussion in 'Lifesize Mammals' started by Schrecken, Jun 9, 2018.

  1. I got this shoulder mount in a trade - I was simply told it was a ram and the person I got it from has no idea as to what species (or breed) it might be. The horns are about 21" long around the outside of the curl, and about 12.5" thick at the bases. The fur/hair is like that of various hollow haired animals, like pronghorn antelope and deer and is not "wooly" at all. Anyone have any ideas what type of ram this is?

  2. looks like a bighorn to me

  3. That was one of my possible considerations, but the horns seem awfully small compared to most pics I've seen ...maybe a female bighorn?
  4. i thought just a younger ram and not a ewe
