What hawk is this?

    Picture taken in WV. I thought immature Coopers but am leaning towards Red Shoulder..
    Not an expert..

  3. immature cooper would have a light colored eye...cant see the chest feathers but id say more mature red shoulder. they get kinda pale feathers on their "face" when mature. at least in these parts

    Yes, immature female cooper's hawk is my guess.

    I'll see your red-shouldered and raise you two of a kind. Same species but not the same bird. Nope, it's not a chicken hawk.

    All of the hawks are juveniles.
    The one in the first post is a red-shouldered hawk, the ones in the most recent post are red-tailed hawks.
