Skunk smell how to get it out ??

Discussion in 'Wanted' started by tomgobbler, Sep 6, 2018.

  1. Had a customer bring in a mnt lion that had gotten into a skunk - skinned salted sent to tannery - got it back today & the smell is still strong . I thought it would come back with no smell - but I was wrong - any ideas ?

I can believe there would be a lingering smell, but it shouldn’t come on strong from a commercial tan

5 gallon bucket of water, I 8 0z bottle of Hydrogen Peroxide, and 1/2 cup of baking soda..Still it all up and dunk/apply..Cleared up all the smell on my skunks. Also a half cup of Dawn...

I've found it helps after a good soak to agitate a bit then change out the solution and repeat until you get no smell.
