My son brought home the skin from a frog he dissected at school and would like to keep it. He would like it not to be dried out but be as close to natural looking as possible, which I assume is difficult to do since a live frog’s skin stays moist. Is it possible to preserve the frog skin? If so, how?

My thought would be to pin it, dry it, and then coat it in a clear acrylic resin to make it look shiny. I don't think there's any way to keep it soft and supple. I have a tanned cane toad, and the skin is weird, like some kind of leather, it's not natural-looking at all any more.
