Thanks Barry. Cool white neck ring on this guy. Skin was in the freezer for 4 years.

I removed the feet and finished them before hand...it was weird...but I'm hoping with some practice on a few I'll get comfortable with it and can do it on all my mounts next year.

I do all mine that way. When cutting the feet off, I "ring" it around where the feathers meet the skin and on the inside of the leg I make a small incision from that cut up a 1/4" or so. That makes it easier to slide the leg out and also a great visual for placement of the skin when gluing it back on

I am always amazed how just a plain old paper towel cleans up the outside of bones after skinning.

Long way to go but added another one, almost 100% caught up on skinning and preparing everything in the freezer too. 20190913_194229.jpg

Well, what was left of the hurricane ran us out of the woods for a couple days, so I got to mount a couple. These 2 will go with a BWT on that piece of wood behind them.

A Bering Sea Blue duck - IPhone's portrait mode thinks the bill is part of the background and blurred it out. When it tightens up a little I'll get some more preening done on those lines

They will do the same for removing fat and meat from feather quills too. Turkey tails especially.
