Back to mounting
First time for me to get a Storm Widgeon.
Couple of shot up mallards that will be hanging from the ceiling by a string .
GREAT WORK All ! Some really great work posted up here ...
Done with birds for a while but I'm still tuning up a few before they're ready to go ... Lots of dead mounts this season ...
I see a couple feathers out of alignment Brooke.. Get them straighten out!!
The hen of a pair of kings!
In the last 45 years I think I mounted one bird hanging from a string, but in the last 2-3 years probably over a dozen and hate doing them.... thanks a lot Cabelas
Personally I like dead mounts , don't mind mounting them and over the yrs I've done quite a few .... That said 99% of the dead mounts I work on are because the client sees one in my shop and says hey ..that's cool think I'll go with that .... NOW standing birds ..... no thanks .... I'm sure we all have certain mounts we don't care to work on .... For myself its defiantly standing birds , been quite a few yrs since I've had to mount one thank goodness ...
honks... was refering to flying birds that hang from ceiling " on a string"
A Mutt (Mottled x Mallard) and a Merganser
This one makes 4 Mottled x Mallard ducks this month.
Ditch chicken. Thawing.
Looks like he survived 7 years being frozen in a block of ice after I skinned and wheeled him.
I washed, dried and did some initial grooming yesterday afternoon and put him back into the freezer for mounting today. Just pulled him out. Looks like I have a little more grooming to do before I mount him up. He should turn out fine. You all have a great day!
ongoing . . . Trying to get some birds "done" before I start another "side" job on June 3rd. (Why's that turkey wing hanging in the background ????)
Last tail from this year!
