I do rugs, and I love it.
But want to do something different,
I have an ermine and I want to do a life size.
But. I’m curious as to why take the feet off?

For a lifesize you want the feet left on. When skinning you have to skin out the feet then the toes to the last bone that holds the nail on. Then when mounting rebuild the area the bones are missing with wire or clay to make them full looking again. It's a tedious job but take your time and take a picture of the foot before skinning for reference. Good luck

If you are saying to remove the foot inside the skin and not the actual skin, there is meat in that foot that needs to not be there.
