A customer brought in an old bear rug from her grandfather and wanted it repaired/remounted. I got the bear off of the old felt but the hide is cracking/breaking and tearing. What is the best kind/brand of oil to use so I can sew up these tears and rips?

    Thanks!

Glue I don't think you will be able to sew it.

X2 on the glue. An old tan will likely slice open with every stitch and just keep getting worse. Rehydrating can be very risky too.

Thanks guys, took your advice and glued it. I let her know how damaged it was after I took the felt off, and she asked me to just try anything to save it. I used bish's adhesive which worked wonderfully, and glued felt back on. I think it came out well, and she loved it IMG_3872.JPG fullsizeoutput_1d44.jpeg fullsizeoutput_1d4f.jpeg fullsizeoutput_1d50.jpeg fullsizeoutput_1d4d.jpeg fullsizeoutput_1d4c.jpeg fullsizeoutput_1d4b.jpeg fullsizeoutput_1d48.jpeg fullsizeoutput_1d44.jpeg IMG_3868.JPG IMG_3869.JPG
